Open Ocean Aquaculture (OOA) a more economically effcient way to grow fish. At the University of Miami, we are constantly developing innovative ways to improve fish production techniques. OOA is setting a precedent that the industry as a whole is striving for. Growing organisms in high energy/clean environment produces the best quality of farm raised product available. At the same time, OOA is a point source of fertilization for our oceans. OOA are considered one of the worlds top dive sights due to the abundance of fish and diversity of species surrounding the cages. A great example of OOA can be found at our partnering sites with Open Blue Sea Farms and Cape Eleuthera Institute. The film above, produced by CNN, depicts OOA at its finest.
